A bit more sketching exercises, this time I tried to sketch some character portraits from my favorite anime ever, Revolutionary Girl Utena.

Utena is my favorite anime for a number of reasons: beautiful visuals, gorgeous character design, as well as character development. Music is amazing (Rinbu Revolution!), and as for the story? Well... themes of domestic abuse, queer characters, madonna-whore complex, savior complex, self-worth, societal labels, and a lot more I can't remember off the top of my head ... ALL of this packaged in a postmodern fairytale setting AND done with a studio that had very limited budget.
This was a 1997 anime and it's still very much relevant now.
